Peru: Ministry of Energy Surpasses 100,000 Vehicle Conversions Through the NGV Savings Program

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) of Peru reported that it surpassed the goal of 100,000 vehicle conversions to natural gas through the NGV Savings program, which is funded by the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE). This initiative has enabled many small business owners in the transportation sector to access financing, directly benefiting them and their families.

Minem’s General Director of Hydrocarbons, Luis García Cornejo, emphasized that natural gas is a “Peruvian product” that deserves to be available to the entire country. He also mentioned that the NGV Savings Program is currently present in nine regions of Peru and aims to expand to more areas.

The ceremony celebrating this milestone was attended by the 100,000th user, Raúl Aguirre, who praised the initiative and encouraged more drivers to take advantage of the benefits of natural gas for vehicles. Aguirre shared that before the conversion, he used to spend 60 or 70 soles a day on fuel, but now, with 30 soles, he can work more efficiently.
