Peru: Mincetur Aims to Expedite the Import Procedures for CNG Cylinders

With the aim of streamlining processes and reducing costs for businesses, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) announced that the import procedures for CNG cylinders have been incorporated into the Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE as its Spanish acronym), a ministry-driven foreign trade facilitation tool.

By incorporating this process into the VUCE, it will enable digitalization and centralization, allowing for seamless integration with the foreign trade procedures followed by various public sector entities, such as SUNAT-Customs. This will also result in the creation of a database for efficient control and dispatch of the CNG cylinders entering the country.

Through Ministerial Resolution No. 301-2023-MINCETUR, the “Proof of compliance with the Technical Regulation on High Pressure Cylinders for Storage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) used as fuel for Motor Vehicles and Cylinder Holding Devices for CNG” was established.

It is worth noting that this compliance verification is managed by more than 300 companies operating in the country. The procedure is carried out by the Ministry of Production (Produce) through the Restricted Goods component of the VUCE.

Furthermore, the Restricted Goods component of the VUCE has been enhanced with this new procedure, which now totals 322 administrative procedures and services across 16 competent entities, all for the benefit of the foreign trade community.
