Spain: Redexis Launches New Natural Gas Station in Chiclana

The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, recently visited the new Redexis CNG refueling station, which is located on the premises of the transport company Belizón y Rodríguez, in the Pelagatos industrial estate. The facility, which required an investment of 190,000 euros, will provide natural gas to the urban bus fleet of the public service operator, the current owner of the filling station that operates privately.

The new CNG station is connected to the Redexis distribution network, which ensures 100% compatibility with the injection of biomethane. This renewable and carbon-neutral energy source could be supplied in the future. The facility is expected to have an annual consumption of 1.9 GWh/year, which translates to a reduction of 29 tons of CO2 emissions per year, thereby contributing to decarbonisation goals.

“Within the framework of the 2030 Agenda and the effort to reduce emissions and improve air quality, private investment is playing a crucial role in reducing CO2 emissions,” said Román. “The economic savings of natural gas compared to gasoline are approximately 50%, and this CNG station, one of the 27 that Redexis has in Spain, is compatible with the biogas generated at the All Gas plant.”

“This commitment to sustainability and the use of natural gas has been a long-term goal. Thus, in collaboration with the Chiclana City Council, Redexis, and Endesa, we have worked tirelessly to bring this initiative to fruition, which may seem small but is technologically and environmentally significant in the long run,” said Nicolás Rodríguez, the Manager of Belizón y Rodríguez.

Finally, Pedro Santos, the representative of Redexis, commented: “Redexis is committed to reducing CO2 and promoting sustainable mobility. I would like to express my gratitude to the Chiclana City Council and Belizón y Rodríguez for their unwavering support, as they have greatly assisted us in launching this initiative.”
