OrangeGas Acquires 75 CNG Stations in Germany and Becomes Market Leader

With the acquisition of 75 Bio-CNG stations from EWE, OrangeGas becomes the market leader in Germany with a total of 129 stations. Due to the favourable tax scheme for transport up to and including 2023, OrangeGas sees a lot of potential for CNG and LNG trucks in Germany.

The stations will be will be located mainly in northern Germany and in the vicinity of Berlin. This brings the total number of OrangeGas filling stations in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Belgium to above 200. As a result of the takeover, OrangeGas’ turnover will increase by 15% in total.

At the same time, EWE, a player that has been shaping CNG mobility in Germany for decades, is leaving the market. The new market leader in Germany, like the Dutch parent company, wants to greatly increase the sales of regeneratively produced biomethane, especially with customers in the transport, logistics and delivery traffic sector to boost the CNG drive throughout Germany.

“The acquisition of the EWE filling stations is a very important step for OrangeGas. Our goal is to become the largest clean fuel provider in Northwest Europe,” said OrangeGas founder and CEO Marcel Borger.

Of the nearly 850 CNG filling stations currently operating in Germany, OrangeGas will own approximately one fifth after the acquisition of the EWE stations. The focus is on the federal states of Nordrhein-Westfalen, Niedersachsen, Bremen, Hamburg, Thüringen and Brandenburg. With the exception of Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg, OrangeGas is currently active in all federal states.
