Natural Gas Station of the TIB Fleet in Mallorca Opens to the Public

The natural gas station, located in the TIB depot of the Son Bugadelles industrial estate, has been supplying compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel to Moventis’ fleet of 50 TIB buses since January. From today it will also be open to the public to provide CNG to both passenger cars and trucks, coaches and vans.

The natural gas station is fast-loading compressed natural gas and has two supply lanes with NGV 1 and NGV2 spouts. This is a self-service and credit card payment point. The construction of the natural gas station, as well as the branches of the gas supply, was carried out by the energy sector company Redexis.

The mayor of Calvià thanked the Ministry for its support and its sensitivity to public transport in Calvià. With the opening of the gas station to the public, a further step is taken to reduce the environmental impact by highlighting the commitment of the company Moventis to facilitate the public use of this infrastructure.

The CEO of Moventia stressed that: “From today, anyone with a gas vehicle will be able to come to this gas station to fill their tank. Undoubtedly, it is a step forward to offer facilities to drivers and promote the acquisition of this type of vehicle and, ultimately, to achieve more sustainable mobility.”

In addition, the Minister of Mobility and Housing of the Government of the Balearic Islands Josep Marí said “We are very happy to be able to make this infrastructure reach the entire population.”

The TIB fleet has other gas stations, located in Felanitx, Artà, Alcúdia and Inca. These facilities are for the supply of buses and for the vehicles of the companies operating the TIB. Companies are currently studying the possibilities of offering the service to other groups.
