The Coslada City Council, in the Community of Madrid, wants to be at the forefront in the use of sustainable mobility for street cleaning with the new service contract, introducing 57 new eco-friendly vehicles, of which 23 are electric and 22 run on CNG. Previously, they operated only 23 vehicles, so this initiative also represents an increase of more than double the number of units.
“The mechanization of the service is necessary to meet the demands of the city,” said the Councilor for Environmental Policy Julio Huete, who also added that “we respond to this need under the parameters of sustainability.”
The official also explained that the facilities for refuelling the new fleet have already been adapted. To carry out these improvements, the cleaning item was increased from 4,780,000 euros to 5,780,000, that is, 21%.
The city council is also committed to digitisation, with the creation of a Comprehensive Service Management Platform to improve the internal management, as well as to encourage citizen participation. Collection requests may be communicated on this platform, which will have a website and a mobile application. In addition, in internal management, the vehicles will have geolocation, displayed on a map integrated into the software.
