Vendée: The NGV Station of La Roche-Sur-Yon Officially Open

The first green and local multi-energy station of La Roche-sur-Yon, deployed by SYDEV and Vendée Energie officially opened on December 9 2021.

To enable this project to see the light of day, an investment of 3.2 million euros was necessary (including 1.5 million in aid from the State, the Pays de la Loire region and the ADEME). This project was born thanks to a collective dynamic of public players in the territory. The accumulation of La Roche-sur-Yon sold part of the land on which the station was built for a symbolic 1 euro and decided to equip itself with a hydrogen bus, in the same way as the department of Vendée. invests in the acquisition of hydrogen vehicles.

Distribute three green energies from Vendée in one place: Green hydrogen, bioNGV and green electricity therefore, in one and the same place, the distribution of three green energies all produced locally and in a short circuit to promote low-carbon mobility. Another particularity of the site, the station is the first concretisation of the conversion of the Michelin site into a pole of innovation on sustainable energies and the industry of the future.

This new generation station distributes:

  • Green hydrogen produced by Lhyfe in Bouin (the first renewable and ecological hydrogen production site, thanks to its connection to Vendée Energie wind turbines, no longer required to purchase),
  • BioNGV (natural gas for vehicles) from methanizers present in the farms of the department. There is already 10% of biomethane injected into the Vendée gas networks (the target set by the government is 10% by 2030).
  • Green electricity from photovoltaic power plants on the ground (on former waste landfill centres), on roofs and on parking shades belonging to SEM Vendée Energie.
