Snam4Mobility and Eni Open a New Natural Gas and Biomethane Station in Aversa

Snam4Mobility and Eni have opened a new natural gas and biomethane filling station for cars in Aversa (Caserta).

The station, located in Via Vito di Jasi, corner of Viale Kennedy, strengthens the offer of CNG (compressed natural gas) as an alternative fuel in Campania and will also supply biomethane (Bio-CNG) produced at the Snam plant in Albairate (Parco Agricolo Sud di Milano) and then fed into the transport network.

Thanks to the partnership between Snam4Mobility and Eni, natural gas and biomethane refuelling stations have already been opened in Trentino-Alto Adige (Levico Terme, TN), Piedmont (Busano, TO), Veneto (Schio, VI), Emilia Romagna (Modena and Bologna) and Puglia (Noicattaro, BA).

The inauguration of Aversa is another important milestone in Eni’s commitment to promoting sustainable mobility in Italy. Natural gas mobility is one of the technologies available to reduce polluting emissions: and with the gradual development of a biomethane supply chain, which can be injected into existing infrastructure, natural gas mobility is also becoming renewable. Eni has already started distributing a portion of biomethane in its own network of CNG stations in Italy (currently 104, with a plan to increase this to 120 by the end of 2022) and plans to distribute only biomethane from next year: following the acquisition of FRI-EL Biogas Holding, Eni will become the leading producer of biomethane in Italy with the potential to feed more than 50 million cubic metres of biomethane produced from renewable sources into the network when fully operational.

Snam4Mobility, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Snam, provides integrated services for “smart green” sustainable mobility using natural gas and biomethane, building distribution infrastructure and supplying components for distributors (compressors, dispensers) in which, through Cubogas, it is one of the market leaders. To strengthen the distribution network, Snam4Mobility develops compressed natural gas (CNG and Bio-CNG) distribution infrastructure for cars and liquefied natural gas (LNG and Bio-LNG) for heavy transport throughout Italy. Snam’s 2020-2024 strategic plan envisages the construction of 150 new natural gas and biomethane refuelling stations and the launch of the first hydrogen refuelling stations.
