Correos Increases Its Fleet with Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles

Correos, the Spanish postal and parcel service operator, has expanded and renewed its fleet with the acquisition of 158 vehicles destined for the distribution. 40 units (25%) of the vehicles are powered by electricity or compressed natural gas (CNG).

The postal and parcel company will invest more than two million euros in the operation, with “the objective of continuing to guarantee the supply of its logistics services in a market that keeps growing, especially in relation to electronic commerce”, they explain.

Of these 158 vehicles, 35 are electric vans awarded to Renault, while another five are driven by compressed natural gas (CNG), awarded to Volkswagen and IVECO, which has resulted in a total disbursement of 1,015,500 euros. The commitment to this type of vehicles not only responds to commitment of Correos for sustainability, but also, after evaluating all the options, it has been decided by the most versatile and respectful environmental regulations of the population centres to which they will be destined to give service.
